Electronically Signing a Document in Justikal

The following instructions will guide you through the process of electronically signing a document and submitting it in a case you are a party to on the Justikal platform.

To do this, you must first be added as a party to the case within Justikal. If you have not been granted access, you will need to ask a case administrator to invite you. Note that all access requests must be approved by the case administrator

Steps to electronically sign and submit a document:

  1. Log in to Justikal and locate the relevant case in which you want to submit a document.
  2. Once you’ve selected the case from the "My Cases" overview and opened it, navigate to the “Documents” tab at the top of the page. This section provides an overview of all documents submitted in the case so far.

  1. Click the "Add Documents" button in the top-right corner to upload a new document. This will open a new window.

  1. In the window that opens:
    • Select the appropriate document type. The default type is “Court Document”. Depending on your user role, additional types (such as “Judgment”, “Court Record”, etc.) may be available.
    • Under Document access, choose either “Public” or “Limited”, depending on the sensitivity of the document.
  1. On the right side of the window, next to the document name, you will see a pencil icon labeled "Sign a document". Click this icon to proceed to the signature page. A new window will open where you can sign the document with electronic signature.

  1. Proceed with signing the document. Once the signing process is complete, you will see a green pencil icon to the left of the document name.

  1. Justikal has a built-in validation service that verifies electronic signatures and seals, regardless of the solution used to generate them. This service is eIDAS-certified, ensuring compliance with European standards. Signature and seal information is displayed by clicking the upper right corner of each document's page. The validation service clearly shows whether the signature or seal uses a simple, advanced, or qualified trust service. The legal effect of these trust services is defined in Act No. 55/2019.

  1. When downloading a document from Justikal (e.g., to Adobe Acrobat Reader), you can view detailed information about the electronic signature and seal used.
